  1. One of my favorites is Misha in Gary Shteyngart’s Absurdistan. I also love Isaac of Angel Wagenstein’s Isaac’s Torah. But there are so many great ones.

  2. 1. Noodles “the Shiv” and the rest of the Jewish gang in Harry Gray’s THE HOODS aka film ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA.

    3. I would mention Vicente de Rocamora from the novel ROCAMORA, but that might be miscontrued as shameless self-promotion.

  3. I will always have an affinity for the characters of Herman Wouk (The Winds of War, War & Remembrance). They are enduring and heroic. The same can be said of James Michener (The Source).
