  2. Dear Ruth Franklin,
I am really looking forward to your blog as I just completed my own master thesis on Holocaust fiction (among others on Sebald, Grossman and Foer) and I like to deepen my studies in this field.
I’ve already read a couple of articles about Martel’s book and it seems a quite interesting approach to representing the Holocaust. What about the new novel by Nicole Krauss?

I wish you all the best for your column,

  5. Ruth, thank you for this great article and your thoughts about meeting Martel. I had the honor of interviewing him about Beatrice and Virgil for the Association of Jewish Libraries earlier this year and found him to be thoughtful and serious, and the book fascinating and important. I’ve heard wonderful things about your book too and look forward to reading it soon. Thanks for your thoughts on this challenging subject.
