The experience of being a stranger in a strange land–an immigrant in transition–is a fascinating theme explored by Bezmogis in The Free World. Even the children of immigrants are haunted by the psychological fragmentation of their parents , which plays out in the choices they make in their lives. After writing my memoir of growing up in South Africa during apartheid did I come to realize this most fully. i am looking forward to reading Bezmogis book.
